A live drawing event by a small team of people drawn together from a series of workshops with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds living in the Tramore area.

We invite people to join us to witness the making of ‘Liminal States’ and to celebrate giving expression to creativity.

A rich layering of culture, identity and creativity, inspiration was drawn from cloth, lace, pattern, maps, architecture, symbols, plants and other living creatures language, stories and imagination.

The work is about the moment, meeting the moment, and welcoming the moment.

Alongside this live drawing event we have a printed photographic compilation of work and a video projection that documents the creative process during the series of workshops.

The sound work is a live mix of recorded spoken word, voice and song. The elements arose from the research process and voice workshops with both a community of artists and the Quay notes choir from County Wexford.

This new work led by Alanna O’Kelly is presented in collaboration with practitioners based in the south east: artist Anthony Lyttle, artist and writer Brian Garvey, movement artist Libby Seward, musician and composer Pol Brennan, choir director (Quay Notes) Elaine Winch and artist Pavlina Kubelkova. The Voices group are Di Buggy, Mirona Mara, Meghan McLoughlin, Kate Murphy, Nina Sanctuary and Kate Whitty,

‘Liminal States’ is a Bealtaine commission and is part of the 2019 Bealtaine Festival for Age and Opportunity. This southeast commission of two live events (Hook Lighthouse, Co Wexford and St Patrick’s Gateway, Waterford) has been made in partnership with Waterford and Wexford Local Authority Arts Offices and the artist Alanna O’Kelly.
