Clang Sayne – Summer Tour: with Basciville
Experimental folk 4tet, Clang Sayne tread an uncharted path between song and sonic improvisation. Their music has been described as “exhilarating in its refusal to conform” (Clive Bell, The Wire Magazine), and “showing an uncategorisable approach to songcraft” (boomkat.co.uk). Their 2017 album, ‘The Round Soul of the World’ featured on BBC, WMFU, Lyric fmIRL, and the Wire Magazine’s Tapper cd. Regulars in the Irish experimental music scene, their 2017/8 performances include Ergodos, Moving on Music, Kaleidoscope, Sofa Sessions and Note.ie. Laura Hyland: voice, guitar; Matthew Jacobson: drums, voice; Carolyn Goodwin: woodwinds, voice; Judith Ring: cello, voice.
Basciville, aka Wexford brothers Cillian and Lorcan Byrne have formulated their own unique blend of rhythm and blues with jazz, folk and orchestral harmony. In June 2017 they released ‘Diving Hour’ to widespread critical acclaim. Following in the footsteps of their 2016 EP, ‘Blues in Red’, it retains the sensibility of a band clearly at ease with their craft but eager to comment on the world as they see it.
Performances at some of Ireland’s largest music festivals including Body and Soul, Electric Picnic and Hard Working Class Heroes has cemented their reputation as a must-see live act.
